Jaldapara National Park Overview
The Jaldapara National Park is situated at the foothill of Eastern Himalayas on the bank of river Torsa in West Bengal. The vast grassland with patches of riverine forests, was declared a sanctuary in 1943 for protection of the great variety of flora and fauna. Principle among them is the Asiatic one horned Rhino. In 2012 the status of the forest was upgraded to a National Park. The forest here is a mixture of a mosaic of woods, grassland, swamps and streams. The forest covers an area of 216.51 sq km.sDrained by rivers Torsa, Malangi, Hollong, Chirakhawa, Kalijhora, Sissamara, Bhaluka and Buri Torsa, the National Park provides extensive grassland which is refuge to a wide variety of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Madarihat town is the main town near the forest.The river Torsha flows through this rain forest sanctuary and have an area of 141 Sq.Km and altitude of 61 m. Jaldapara, the vast grassland with patches of riverine forests was declared a sanctuary in 1941 for protection of the great variety flora and fauna, particularly the one-horned rhinoceros, an animal threatened with extinction. The Jaldapara Sanctuary covers 216 sq Km, is a mosaic of woods, grasslands, perennial streams, sandy river banks and extensive belts of tall grass. It contains a great diversity of flora and fauna of mixed deciduous forest, grasslands and river banks. The Malangi River also flows nearby from east to west. Drained by rivers Torsa, Malangi, Hollong, Chirakhawa, Kalijhora, Sissamara, Bhaluka and Buri Torsa, the Sanctuary provides extensive grassland which is the last refuge to a wide variety of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds.
Lataguri Overview
Lataguri is the base for your tour to Gorumara National Park. Tourism around Gorumara started in Lataguri and its surrounding area although today large number of tourist accommodation has come up all around the forest including in Murti, Ramsai and other area.Even today most tourists prefer to stay around Lataguri. There is a Nature Interpretation center at Lataguri which issues ticket for day visitors inside forest, known as forest safari. Cultural programs such as tribal dance etc. Are organized at the center in the evening.
Samsing Overview
Samsing is a small hill village and tourist spot in the Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling.Beautiful landscape with green tea garden sceneries, hills and forests, which attract a lot of tourists. On a clear day, the snow-clad mountains of Bhutan are also visible from this place. It lies 18 km from the Neora Valley National Park.Its climate is noted for fog and cool breezes and a high rainfall. It has lots of beautiful picnic spots and tourist places. Some of them are Lali Guras, Rocky Island and Suntaley Khola. Neora Valley National Park is in a distance of an hour from here. Here you can find the fusion of hills, plains, rivers, forest, tea-garden and villages. In fact, it is a cute tea garden inhabited by lovely and helpful Nepali people.
Rajabhatkhawa And Buxa Tiger Reserve
Rajabhatkhawa is a small town situated just outside the Buxa Tiger Reserve in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India. It is known for its natural environment,and is surrounded by forest. All the permits for the entry to the Buxa Tiger reserve can be taken from here.The Buxa Tiger Reserve is a 760 sq km protracted inhabitant tiger reserve located inside the Buxa National Park(W.B.) located in the Buxa Hills of the southern hilly area of Bhutan. Animals found in the park include, the tiger, civet, elephant, gaur (Indian bison), Indian boar and red jungle fowl.The park holds maximum number of elephant, Indian bison, leopard, many species of deer and many smaller mammals, innumerable species of birds and reptiles. Buxa is rich with bio-diversity and has a great collection of rare orchids and medicinal plants. Because of inaccessible terrain, some parts of Buxa hills in the Sinchula range are still unexplored.
Itinerary Detail
Day 01: ARRIVAL AT NJP RAILWAYS STATION / BAGDOGRA AIRPORT IXB AND TRANSFER TO SAMSING
Arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport,our agent will meet you and greet you with pleasantries .After slight relaxation start for Samsing. A refreshing drive through tea gardens and forests takes you to Samsing, a small Dooars town close to Gorumara National Park. Overnight at Samsing Hotel or Homestay.
Day 02:Full day excursion to Samsing & Suntaleykhola
After breakfast start early morning for full day excursion to Samsing & Suntaleykhola - ideal place for nature lovers. The journey to Samsing is a memorable one, as you slowly ride uphill through the most picturesque Dooars tea garden on the rolling hill slopes. The land of floating clouds, meandering mountain streams and endless maze of green will leave an everlasting sense of satisfaction. Transfer to hotel in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel / homestay at Lataguri / Gorumara.
DAY 03:Full day excursion to Jhalong to Bindu
After breakfast start early Morning for Jeep Safari (optional on extra payment) inside Gorumara National Park. After having breakfast, we drive onwards from Samsing on a day excurion to Bindu (Alt 4350Ft / 1300M),the last village on the Indo–Bhutan border along the Himalayan foothills. Also visit Jhalong, situated on the bank of Jaldhaka River. Enjoy the break in Jhalong. A small village Garibus comes on your way, where diascorrea a medicine plant is grown. Back to hotel / homestay by evening. Overnight at Lataguri / Gorumara.
Day 04:Lataguri to Jaldapara via Chapramari
After breakfast proceed to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanactuary. Reach Jaldapara by afternoon. Afternoon forest jeep safari (optional at extra cost). Overnight at Jaldapara/Madarihat.
Day 05:Local sightseeing of Jaldapara & Rajabhatkhawa
After breakfast,check out of hotel and transfer from Rajabhatkhawa to New Jalpaiguri Station/Bagdogra Airport. Your trip end here.
Day 06:Local sightseeing of Buxa & Jayanti
Full day excursion inside forest to Buxa fort and Jayanti. Morning trek to Buxa fort, a historical place that requires some hiking (5 kms one way). After return from Buxa fort you will be taken to Jayanti riverbed on Indo-Bhutan boarder. Here you can visit pukhuri hill or take forest safari (optional at extra cost).
Day 07:Transfer from Rajabhatkhawa to Njp Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport
After breakfast at hotel, check out from hotel by 11 AM. Drive back from Rajabhatkhawa to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey. Your pleasant stay with us concludes here.
